Walking is a free, healthy and enjoyable way to travel. Oxfordshire has some wonderful countryside, parks, towns and villages to explore so why not make a change, put your best foot forward and walk more?

The great thing about walking is that you can do it any where! There are many footpaths, parks and country parks to explore.

Walking for health

The Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support Walking for Health which encourages you to enjoy your local natural spaces and benefit your health by taking part in health walks. Walking for Health is the largest national body promoting and setting the standards for led health walks. Walking for Health aims to encourage people, particularly those who take little exercise, to do regular short walks in their communities. Nationally there are over 590 local health walk schemes – find your nearest using the Walk Finder!


500 Ramblers local Groups across the country carry out our work to promote walking and improve conditions for walkers at a local level. They also organise hundreds of led group walks a week. Groups are organised into Areas, who also sometimes run their own special walks. Find your local Ramblers group.
