The Oxford Sports Council

The Oxford Sports Council is a not for profit organisation that aims to improve the participation and excellence in sport in Oxford.

The Oxford Sports Council in its current format was founded in 1979 at a meeting involving leading members of different sports clubs, Oxford City Council and the University of Oxford.

Since then the Oxford Sports Council has been actively engaged in developing new ideas and activities to promote and support local sport.

The Oxford Sports Council annually awards up to £10,000 worth of grants to Oxford City based voluntary sports clubs, organisations and individuals. Certain criteria have to be met to ensure money is well spent and sporting aims are achieved.
